Olympic Peninsula – 2016

Dungeness Wildlife Refuge, June, 2016

Our modest exploration of the West Coast continued in  2016 with a trip to the Olympic Peninsula. The house we rented was in a beautiful setting, – though it was a fifteen minute drive through monotonous, pine forest to buy a carton of milk!  But we loved being close enough to wonderfully quirky Port Townsend to spend time with our dear friend Elisabeth. She came to visit us after completing a multi-day Qigong workshop. Whilst busy chatting, Mark accidentally grasped the handle of a cast iron skillet that had just been removed from the oven. The burn was immediate and severe, like a sickle-shaped brand mark, deep, red and shiny. Awful. As I continued to prep dinner (well someone had to!) Elisabeth stood with Mark in the middle of the kitchen, chanting. My skepticism was absolute. But then the burn ceased to hurt, our evening resumed. The wound did not blister and left no scar. What can I say…
