One day in spring 2011, with the need to justify owning a vehicle (see Maine – December 2010) we made a sortie north to explore the Hudson Valley. It was a revelation. After 45 minutes of NYC clinging on to us like a demanding child, we broke free, and discovered seductive, bucolic countryside. The house search followed that evening, and less than a week later we headed to Clinton Corners to see our first property. We knew nothing about the area – we put in an offer the next day. It was the setting, it just blew us away. When we finally gained possession, I was miserable: severe buyer’s remorse. But love returned quickly. Whatever happens in the future I will remember the lake house as a gift and a lifesaver. It is the perfect antidote to New York City. And I have painted here – a lot.
The upcoming exhibition at the beautiful Gallery and Goods is devoted to a selection of that work – essentially documenting the love affair. It opens officially on October 5th. I am excited and nervous in equal measure, but mostly appreciative to Brett McCormack and Josh Nathanson for the opportunity.
I will be devoting a future page to the available inventory.
