In Progress IV

I normally paint on a relatively small scale, especially in oil. Practicality is part of it – since I always work directly in front of the subject modest proportions make sense. I also love the concentrated qualities inherent in small pictures – Samuel Palmer is a hero of mine.

However, lately I have been curious to go a little bigger, and so I did this painting last week. 24 x 36 inches. Okay, so it is hardly a mural, but it was a sort of breakout for me!

  1. Love the larger scale—I say this because I mean it and I know you will stay true to your (smaller) roots as well!
