Five little paintings

I have not done much painting the last few weeks. Partly travel was to blame but I have also been preparing for an exhibition of my work that will take place in a few weeks and will be the subject of a future post. So today I really felt a desperate need to make something, and returning to the US from Europe has an interesting benefit – you wake up very early!

It was a beautiful day, but touched with a little melancholy, since summer has already departed. The dramatic mist on the water caused by the temperature differential, longer shadows as the sun slips lower in the sky, and the honey and coral hues creeping into the trees, were all poignant reminders that we are entering the end of the year.
