August 10th & 11th

Some weekends are more productive than others. The last couple did not fall into that category for various legitimate reasons but frustration persists. August 10th and 11th were different and are therefore honored with their own blog post!

My favorite part of these sketches of Mark are his shirt. The head – well you can tell I’m trying too hard. The emphasis is due to that feeling of “What the hell does your nose look like?” You can almost sense me frowning.

I tried to to get up before 7 am on Saturday 10th but failed. Consequently, I started the painting below (another monumental 24 x 36” effort!) around 8:00, but felt I had missed the best of the light and so put it to one side with the intention of working on it early the next day. Fortunately, I slowly realized that I should just leave it alone. Miracles can happen! It is one of my favorites this year.

  1. Miracles galore!!!! I especially love the “in process” images as you develop your composition.
