My new exhibition opened yesterday!
Back at the beautiful Gallery and Goods ”Finding the Light – Painting during the Pandemic” gathers together 51 oil paintings executed between March and June. I will sheepishly admit to being very proud of it!
Here is the statement I wrote to explain the show:
Finding the Light: Painting during the Pandemic, March – June 2020
Like most of us, the events of the last few months have frequently left me stunned, struggling to regroup or find some sense of a firm footing.
Having to work at home has meant a prolonged period in this area that I love so much. Yet, at times the very beauty I find so inspirational was, curiously, its own source of melancholy: a poignant contrast to the anxiety and uncertainty surrounding us, and more recently, a heightened awareness of just how unjust life can be.
However, the proximity to nature has been a saving grace. To record the emergence of spring, and spring turning into summer – cycles that pay no heed to our woes and failings, has been ultimately uplifting, reminding me that we are all responsible for finding the light wherever we can and, hopefully, sharing it.
As always Mark’s support was crucial. Essentially it is our hang and many of the groupings are entirely his. This time lapse video gives some (comic) idea of the process!

Congratulations! I hope we will be able to see it — looks fantastic —

I hope so too! Thank you. X
Cant honestly say that I wish I was in US right now, but would have loved to view, had I been
And we would have loved to walk you through it! Thank you.
Everything looks so beautiful! Congratulations! Wish we could see it all in person. Love the installation video as well. Xoxo Y
Thank you! Wish you could both see it too. XX
Glad you have the chance to exhibit and I hope it goes well. That series of paintings through the spring you have done is a great record and looks good on the wall.
Many thanks Graham. It is all very quiet, given the slowly phased reopening, but it is great to see them up.
