So, I got out of quarantine on Sunday May 30th. The image above sums up how I felt about it! The photograph was taken by Kate W – as was the featured image in Brisbane I. Kate was a UK colleague and friend from the late 1980’s early 90’s. We had lost touch, but by a miracle were in contact again just before I went to Australia. To my surprise and delight I discovered she had moved several years ago with her husband and daughter to Brisbane! She collected me that morning from my prison – sorry, I mean my hotel, and took me for the best breakfast I have ever tasted. Her presence in the city made a huge and positive difference.
The two weeks following quarantine were mostly taken up with work but I did manage some sketching in the beautiful City Botanic Gardens and along the riverside. I was thrilled to be outside and the plant life seemed wonderfully exotic.
